What do CBD Milligrams and Percentages Mean?

Strolling through the aisles of CBD products, you might find yourself playing detective—puzzling over numbers and terms like milligrams (mg) and percentages (%). Fear not, for this guide is your secret codebook to crack the CBD measurements conundrum. By the end, you'll be fully armed with the knowledge to select the perfect CBD product and dosage for your unique needs.

What do CBD milligrams mean (mg)

A CBD product's milligram content discloses the total concentration of cannabidiol it contains. For a product such as oil, this could range from as little as 250mg to a whopping 3,000mg. But don't let the numbers intimidate you—the key lies in the product's volume.

For instance, a 10ml bottle of 1,000mg CBD oil has the same concentration per drop as a 30ml bottle of 3,000mg. So, while the larger bottle might appear to be packed with more CBD, each drop delivers the same punch!

To help illustrate, let's take our 1,000mg Sun Bear CBD Oil as an example. One full pipette is 1 millilitre, meaning it will deliver 33mg of CBD. This means this bottle will last you a whole month with a 1ml daily serving. With this information, and with our graduated pipette, you can accurately count the drops needed to hit your desired dosage.

What do CBD percentages mean (%)

Some CBD products swap out milligrams for percentages to represent the cannabidiol concentration. Simply put, a 10ml bottle of CBD Oil labeled as 10% concentrated will pack in 1,000mg of CBD. Here's a quick math hack to decipher this:

1 millilitre = 1,000 milligrams

10ml = 10,000mg

10% of 10,000mg = 1,000mg

So, your total concentration equals 1,000mg of CBD.

Keep in mind, the same percentage can represent a different milligram content if the product's volume changes. For example, a 30ml product labeled 5% CBD contains a total concentration of 1,500mg of CBD. Lets see the math at work again:

30ml = 30,000mg

5% of 30,000mg = 1,500mg

What CBD dose?

Your ideal CBD dose depends on a few personal factors, like your body weight and metabolism, the severity of your symptoms, and generally your personal preferences and what makes you feel most comfortable. As a safe starting point, consider a daily dose of 20mg of CBD. Assess your body's response and incrementally add 10mg until you discover your 'sweet spot' where CBD effectively addresses your symptoms.

For those facing severe anxiety, insomnia, or pain, starting with 40mg might be more beneficial. Keep a record of your dosages and note any changes in how you feel—it's a practical way to track your progress.
